Yearly Lake O'Hara Trip

On September 19th, in a cold rain we greeted old friends from years past then boarded the morning bus for the Lodge.  Upon arriving at the Lodge we were warmly received by Alison and Bruce Miller as always.

After having our tea and coffee we were anxious to be on the move, so we left immediately to hike around the lake and then carried on to Mary Lake where we ate lunch sheltered under a big spruce tree out of the rain.  We continued on to the Alpine Meadow then slowly returned to the Lodge to organize our room.

September 20th, under a cloudy sky we spent a cool day hiking to Lake McArthur.  During the evening it began to rain and then turned to snow.

September 21st, with two inches of new snow we hiked the West Trail to Opabin Plateau.  Although the weather was very dull, we enjoyed the ever turning larches.

September 22nd, dawned with not a cloud in the sky and fresh snow on the mountains the scenery was better than ever.  So we hiked to Odaray Plateau, the view of the Goodsirs was fantastic as the new snow showed them at their majestic best.  The view of the peaks ringing Lake O'Hara were as equally spectacular.

September 23rd, on a rather gloomy day we hiked to Morning Glory Lakes and Linda Lakes.

September 24th, another unsettled day with a few flurries, we hiked around the valley and then left on the late afternoon bus.  Although the weather was not the best we just enjoyed spending time in this beautiful area.  Another plus was seeing old friends and making new ones.

As a point of interest several guests in the Lodge saw a wolverine in the area.  We did not see one, however we did see tracks in two different locations.
